Welcome to the very first edition of my newsletter—where I’ll share real, hard-earned insights from scaling a plumbing company from $6M to a $25M run rate in just three years. My goal is simple: give fellow owners the strategies, systems, and mindset shifts needed to grow faster.

Why We’re Just a Plumbing Company: No HVAC Distractions
We only do plumbing and sewer — I considered a multi service rollup but chose not to, why should I? We specialize in one trade and it has paid off immensely. We’re sticking to this strategy and continuing to grow each year.
Google Reviews: How to Dominate Your Market
This video breaks down why Google Reviews are the most important growth tool for home service businesses. I share how we’ve built over 4,000 reviews, why photo reviews rank higher in the Map Pack, and the simple systems we use—like QR codes, surveys, and tech incentives—to keep the reviews coming in.
📈 The Start
From Zero Plumbing Experience to a $25M Run Rate—Here’s What I’ve Learned.
Three years ago, I made one of the boldest moves of my career: I bought a plumbing company… in an industry I knew absolutely nothing about.
At the time, J. Blanton Plumbing was doing around $6M a year with a team of 25 people. Fast forward to today, and here’s where we are:
Revenue – On track for a $25M run rate
Team – Grown to nearly 130 employees, including 43 based overseas
Goal – Hitting $100M in the next 4 years
When I first stepped into the trades, I didn’t have technical know-how, but I did have a few key things:
An entrepreneurial background
Experience buying and scaling companies
A willingness to dive headfirst into a steep learning curve
What I found was a massive opportunity hiding in plain sight. The home service industry is massive and built on recurring demand—but it’s often run tired playbooks and little focus on new growth initiatives.
At J. Blanton Plumbing, we decided to run things differently. Instead of sticking to “the way it’s always been done,” we:
Borrowed best practices from the consumer and tech world
Built scalable systems and processes like a startup would
Focused on culture and team development just as much as customer service
Leveraged overseas talent to unlock growth without overextending our local team
The results speak for themselves—and the journey is far from over.
This year, I’m committing to sharing more of the systems, strategies, and lessons learned that have helped us grow—so that other home service business owners can scale their companies without burning out or losing sight of what matters.
If you own or lead a home service business, I’d love to hear your story. Let’s swap ideas, learn from each other’s wins (and mistakes), and push this industry forward together.
Here’s to building something bigger—one move at a time. 🚀
